At friday the 9th of june 2006 at 8.30am all athletes of the NAC national team germany, their companions as well as the officials met at the airport duesseldorf. In best mood and highly motivated we took the airplane at 10.40am.

About 01.10pm our plane landed at the airport alicante in spain and then we went by bus for another 30 miles to our hotel Melià in Benidorm. With all of our luggage we waited for the room distribution for our national team in the very large and comfortable lobby of the big hotel. After we finally got our room keys, and we all had a safe place to sleep, we went to our rooms and enjoyed a cold shower.

About 5.00pm all athletes and the officials met at the pool of the hotel to do a team pic together. Subsequently, then all athletes and officials of every country went to the registration of the ahtletes and we got our starting numbers and our classes for the competition the neyt day saturday. The rest of the day was for our free use.

Our Team - René de Homont, Yvonne Schleip, Tino Schleip and me went at first in a super market at the other site of the street. (To buy some food for the day after competition)

After this we all went to our rooms and we slowly calmed down. Now it was time to lay down and eat a little bit rice with some tiny chicken;-) 

At the 10th june at 8.45am we went with the bus to the sportplace in benidorm where the world championships took place. We could go without delay into the backstage area and i have to say the place was very large and comportable so that every of the 130 athletes from all of the countries could find a place without disturbing each other.

The competition started in time at 10.00am. The international standard of the athletes was at the highest level and the different classes were hard to judge.

The master class over 50 opened the competition and Heinz Horling from NAC nationalteam germany got the 4th place.

From all of the classes there were special the master class over 40, with 17 competitors men body 3, 16 competitors, men body 2, 12 competitors and ms fitness shape, 18 competitors, the best classes and i think very difficult to judge.

In the masters over 40 class, our athlete Stefan Niegengerdt got 5th place,  Wilfried Michaelis couldn´t qualify for the finals despite his very ripped condition and his very good symetry.

The next bis showblock was the ms fitness shape. That was the moment for our attractive Lyen Wong to go onstage. She presented herselfe very good and earned 3rd place.  Ilka Vogel from germany couldn´t qualify for the finals.

Just as hard was the ms figure1 class. Our german hope Yvonne Schleip could make the 3rd place behind the russian title holder Margarita Bocharova and  Susana Martin from spain. Yvonne was in the best condition of her life and her past successful career.

Petra Sando form germany got 2nd place and was vice world champion in the ms figure over 35 years.

Then after a 20 minute break my class, ms body followed. It was a big honour for me to compete together onstage with Fabi Antoine from belgium. It was a very hard fight. Fabi Antoine had a tremendous condition and had a very ripped and hard musculature and she had also an enormous presence on stage.

In the men bodyclass 3 Peter Hoppe from germany couldn´t make it to the top 6.

In the following class men body 2, Uwe Hemmer from germany could get the vice world champion title and Jörn Boeck got 5th place.

In the men body 1 (the big guys) our athlete Mario Kapser also got the vice world champion title.

In the following men athletic class 1 Swen Kellner from germany made 4th place and in the athletic class 2 Robin Schulz made 3rd place.

IOn the whole it was a very successful and well organized competition without large incidents.

The support back stage was very good. One provided fresh fruit and water and the sanitary plants as well as all remaining areas were kept onstantly clean all the time.

A very big Thank You goes of course to my coach and manager René de Homont, who also was the companien for the others of our national team, as well as Yvonne Schleip for her absolutely highly support.

Which was noticeable to me however was that the spectators, who visited only the evening final show at 06.00pm didn´t get so much comparisons, because the finals were very fast and so in my class there was only posing routine and nearly no comparisons. After this we went straight to the results of the placing. In these minutes i was very strained.

After calling out the 5th, 4th and 3rd place i took Fabi at the hand and we both awaited the final two places. After they called Fabi for 2nd place i couldn´t believe it, i put my hands in front of my face and took a very deep breath. It is very difficult to describe how i felt in this moment. It was like a big big weight falling down from my shoulders and i was much more than only happy!

I was world champion! ! !

On the next morning all athletes enjoyed the marvelous breakfast buffet in the hotel Melià. It was very varoiusly, so there was something for everyone. Meet, bread, oatmeal, fruits, sweets, cake,  and much much more. Just very tasty!!!

After the breakfast all athletes and companions could spend the day obviously content at the very nice pool area of the hotel or it was possible to go to the beach 600 yrds away.

All athletes met again at 5.00pm for a fotoshoot at the beach with  Jürgen Drescher from www.posedown.de .

At 8.00pm we (about 40 persons) all met at the chinese restaurant for the National Tem conclusion meal. It was very tasty and with its spices it was really something different than only chicken and rice;-)

Because of the fact that our bus wentto the airport alicante at 5.00pm, we used the opportunity to go shopping, taking again some pics at the poolsite and really enjoyed the big ice under the spanish sun after this.

At 8.05pm we went probably into the plane to düsseldorf and arrived there save at 10.30pm.
